Twelve-year-old basketball prodigy tipped for NBA after viral video emerges

A 12-year-old basketball wonderkid is being tipped for a future in the NBA after becoming an internet sensation overnight. The youngster, who’s part of FC Barcelona’s development team, stands tall at 6’9 and recently showed off his skills at the LL Tournament in Madrid.

Mohamed Dabone, born in 2011, has caught the world’s attention with a video of him dominating a game against his peers. The Burkina Faso-born youngster is now being hailed as the next big talent to come from Europe, following in the footsteps of NBA stars like Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo and this year’s first overall pick, the French teenager Victor Wembamyama.

Although it remains to be seen how he develops, and he won’t be eligible for the NBA Draft for another eight years, Dabone is already showing incredible promise. He was named MVP at the recent U-15 FLL Tournament in Madrid, proving his talent is beyond his years.

In a memorable match against Real Madrid’s development team, he led his young Catalan team to a narrow 61-59 victory. Dabone shone in the win, scoring 25 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and blocking 6 shots.

A couple of users also predicted big things for young Dabone, with one poster asserting: “]He’s gonna be Giannis [Antetokounmpo] with a jumpshot, I see a future Number 1 pick in him.”
