Tottenham returned to winning ways by dismantling Newcastle United 4-1 – although it was Brennan Johnson's shirt that captured the attention of some fans.

Ange Postecoglou's side looked dangerous from the off, putting the Magpies under significant pressure as they looked to end their five game streak without a win. And a brace from Brazilian forward Richarlison, coupled with goals from Destiny Udogie and Son Heung-Min, saw them on their way, with Newcastle's consolation effort came late on courtesy of Joelinton.

But, during Spurs' routine win over Eddie Howe's side, eagle-eyed football fans noticed something strange about winger Brennan Johnson's kit, or rather, what was not on his shirt.

The Welsh winger, who joined Spurs from Nottingham Forest in the summer, did not have the Spurs badge on his kit. One fan wrote on social media: "Are my eyes alright or does Brennan Johnson not have a Spurs badge on his shirt?"

A second added: "'Why doesn't Brennan Johnson’s shirt have the spurs badge on it?" A third commented: "Oh no Nike. No Tottenham crest on Brennan Johnson's shirt today."

It seems as though the explanation for the missing badge was simply because it fell off during the contest. Photo from the clash against Newcastle show the Wales international with the badge on his shirt after tussling with Joelinton, while later on, it is nowhere to be seen as Johnson and Tino Livramento battle for the ball.

And while Spurs did not move up from fifth in the Premier League table, they did pull themselves three points clear of sixth placed Man United, and four ahead of the Magpies.

Having missed out on European football last term, Spurs will know that a fifth placed finish this term could see them return to the Champions League, depending on how English teams get on in Europe.

With a Champions League spot going to the country whose European coefficient is the highest, success on the continent from Spurs' rivals could see them help Postecoglou and co back into Europe's elite competition if they do finish the season in fifth.
