Man United receive DOUBLE injury boost as Rasmus Hojlund and Antony both return to training ahead of crunch clash with Galatasaray in the Champions League

  • Rasmus Hojlund is Manchester United’s top scorer across all competitions
  • Hojlund has been out since before the international break with a muscular issue
  • Pressure is easing on Man United boss Erik ten Hag: Listen to It’s All Kicking Off

Erik ten Hag has received a timely boost as his side prepare for a must-win trip to Istanbul in the Champions League, with both Rasmus Hojlund and Antony returning to training.

The Red Devils have endured a trying start to the 2023-24 campaign, although recent results against Everton and Luton Town either side of the international break have strengthened their position.

As a result they now sit sixth in the Premier League, despite losing to each of Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham, and are on the verge of an early exit from the Champions League with just three points from four games.

As such, the return of Hojlund, who has largely been the only attacker to record any statistics of notes for the Red Devils this term will be welcome news for the battling Ten Hag.

Although he is yet to score in the league, the £72million Dane is the club’s top scorer in all competitions with five goals.

The Danish forward had been out with a muscular injury sustained just before the international break against Luton.

As a result, he pulled out of his country’s round of fixtures, coming against San Marino and Northern Ireland.

Antony had also been missing after suffering a knock in training, but both were back in front of the cameras on Tuesday.

They were joined by impressive youngster Kobbie Mainoo and Sunday’s bicycle-kick hero Alejandro Garnacho out on the training ground as the squad stepped up their preparation for the tie.

Marcus Rashford was also in attendance, although he has been ruled out of contention after picking up a red card in the shock 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen last time out.

Luke Shaw has also recently returned to action, starting against Everton for his first involvement in three months after a serious thigh injury, and he could be in line for more minutes on Wednesday.

Ten Hag’s side are however expected to be without Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, Mason Mount, Amad Diallo and Casemiro to injuries of their own.
