Laura Woods couldn’t hold back her laughter as she gave a hilarious response to Les Ferdinand’s comments about Newcastle United.

The TNT Sports host was in familiar surroundings of her Love Island lover as she presented the coverage of Newcastle United’s Champions League game at St James’ Park against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.

It was a disappointing night for the Magpies who fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against the Bundesliga side thanks to a well-taken goal by Felix Nmecha in first-half added time. Leaving former Newcastle striker Les Ferdinand and seemingly her Geordie Love Island partner Adam Collard gutted – who she recently went official with on social media.

Woods, 36, was joined by former Champions League winner Rio Ferdinand and Magpies hero Les as the trio discussed the impact of football on the one-club city. Despite being in the early days of her budding relationship with Collard, Les said that she may have to deal with being second best at times when the football is on.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Ferdinand told Woods that a Newcastle fan once told him it was "football, the wife and then work", the camera then panned back to show red-faced Woods laughing before she quipped back: “What about the wife and work?”

Woods went public with her relationship with Collard earlier this month as she posted a number of cosy snaps to Instagram showing her snuggling up with her new boyfriend. Collard appeared in the ITV dating show in 2018 before returning in 2022.

Collard previously revealed that Woods could be ‘The One’, saying: "I would never get in a relationship with someone at least at one point [unless] I thought they were The One." It remains to be seen whether Ferdinand’s comments could be true for Woods and Collard, although her job as a sports presenter and his love of Newcastle could go hand in hand.
